Who We Are

We engineer the absence of pain.

Altaris MedTech was founded in the fires of the University of Arkansas Graduate Entrepeneurship program. During the intense program, the founders competed in pitch competitions and crafted business plans that were reviewed by industry experts.

Lance Lockwood

Co-Founder / CEO

lance@altaris.technology

Lance brings a decade of experience in retail and consumer packaged goods, with deep expertise in go-to-market strategy, brand building, and scaling operations from concept to national distribution. Before co-founding Altaris MedTech, he held roles at major CPG companies where he learned that the best products win on clarity, not complexity. He leads the company's commercial strategy, fundraising, and investor relations, translating Strep-Detect's clinical promise into a business that clinics actually want to buy. Lance is driven by a simple conviction: no child should fear a doctor's visit because of a diagnostic test.

Joseph Hobbs

Co-Founder / CTO

joseph@altaris.technology

Joey is the inventor of the Strep-Detect technology. As CTO of Altaris MedTech, he focuses on building technology that solves real problems in healthcare. This work started in urgent care clinics, where he spent time with providers to understand the limitations of current strep throat testing. Those early insights shaped the past three years of development, including a self-directed, self-funded graduate thesis dedicated to creating a better solution. With a background in Biomedical Engineering and ongoing graduate studies in Healthcare Entrepreneurship, he's driven to turn clinical pain points into scalable, impactful technologies.
